How One Choreographer Is Striving To Make Modern Dance Fun and Joyful

Choreographer Tiffany Rea-Fisher is re-thinking modern dance.

“I have been on this mission to bring fun back to modern dance,” said Rea-Fisher, artistic director of Elisa Monte Dance.

That’s why this New York company is performing in Summer Streets, a free program that turns Manhattan’s streets into car-free spaces for walking, running and bicycling on three Saturdays. Run by the Department of Transportation, the program also invites artists to perform as people meander down what are usually traffic-clogged streets.
