One local high school dance team is giving Beyonce's backup dancers a run for their money.
The Sheboygan North Varsity Dance Team posted a video from the WACPC State Dance Championships at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin and not only won the 2017 state champions with the routine, but also became instant internet stars with their Beyonce tribute.
The Wisconsin group's routing is set to Queen Bey's "Formation," "Baby Boy" and more.
"Their one goal was for Beyoncé to see it," coach Kayla Pittner told Dance.com, adding that catching Beyonce's attention is a "great motivation for them to work extra hard this year."
The team, which won back-to-back state championships, is made up of Sheboygan North High School dancers: Olivia DePagter, Allie Campbell, Mariah Ybanez, Lily Reyer, Emily Higgins, Kaila Bricco, Greta Humke, Sierra Willman, MacKenzie Dimoff-Debbink, Willow Dodgson, Teagan Yedica, Grace Hurrie, Iris Lor , Amya Steger, Carly Jennerman, Claire Michener, Kaleigh Gonzales, Heaven Garcia, Emilee Van De Kreeke, Maddie Green. They are coached by Pittner and Betsy Klauck.
Most of the group trains at Pittner's local dance studio, Dollhouse Dance Factory, up to six days a week in addition to team practices.
