Turns Out Competitive Rock-n-Roll Dance Is A Thing — And The U.S. Doesn’t Rock

When it comes to the heart of rock and roll — on the ballroom dance floor — it looks like Poland wins.

At least in the World Games 2017. Which happened to take place in Wroclaw, Poland.

Polish duo Jacek Tarczylo and Anna Miadzielec took the gold in the Rock’n’Roll category of the World Games, which is a multi-sport event for sports or events within a sport snubbed by the Olympic Games.

World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) stages the competition, and though it’s recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1997, the invitation to the Olympics has been lost in the mail for a while now.

Two American pairs currently rank in WDSF Adult Latin and Adult Standard categories. But rock? Well, maybe next year.
